Description

St. James Place is a mission of Central Christian Church and the Foundation for Affordable Housing in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. St. James Place provides affordable housing for the working homeless and those whose incomes usually prevent them from finding safe, adequate housing. Opened in August 1995, St. James Place was the first facility in Kentucky (and one of the first in the country) to offer affordable housing to the working homeless. The project was the vision of William Embry, Jr. and thanks to his efforts and HUD financing it has been a wonderful experience of growth and support for over 600 individuals who have called St. James Place home. St. James Place Phase II In September 2006, our facility expanded. St. James Place II provides transitional housing to veterans who have completed a course of treatmenet and have been authorized by the Veterans' Administration for transitional housing. St. James Place has 100 furnished apartments. St. James Place II has 38 furnished apartments. We receive referrals from a number of local and state agencies, including Adult Services, Tenant Services, The Hope Center, Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole (State and Federal), Eastern State Hospital, Comprehensive Care, The Salvation Army Shelter, Catholic Action Center, Lexington Rescue Mission, and a host of area churches and businesses.
