This custom-built 6 bedroom, 4 bath estate sleeps up to 14 guests and is nestled in the private, quiet and secluded Sunset Hills neighborhood of Pupukea on the picturesque North Shore of Oahu, only minutes from amazing beaches and lush hiking and biking trails. Mele Makana is a gated home with a large private yard, adorned in a multitude of manicured tropical plants for beautiful views in every direction, and overlooking the spectacular Pupukea Paumalu Forest Reserve for a rich and lush tropical landscape in every direction.
Roll up the expansive driveway to the covered carport with additional parking closer to the home. Step through the contemporary entrance at Mele Makana into the spacious, openly designed and air conditioned living area which consists of the living area, dining area, kitchen and breakfast nook. With high-vaulted ceilings and a wealth of natural light and airflow, this is the perfect space for your entire party to lounge for meals and entertainment. The living area is equipped with a large couch, ottomans and fireplace. The dining area has a large picnic-style table to accommodate large groups, and the gourmet kitchen is outfitted with numerous stainless steel appliances and a large countertop bar with 8 bar stools for entertaining guests while cooking up a delicious meal. There is even a piano to the side of the kitchen for a little musical accompaniment to dinner. Aside from the living area is the den, a cozy space lined with stonework and couches for an intimate setting to admire the garden or to host a game night. There is also a laundry room near the living area with an in-unit washer and dryer.
The primary bedroom is outfitted with a King bed, air conditioning ceiling fan, glorious garden views, and a private ensuite with dual sinks and a shower/tub combo. Guest bedroom 2 has a Queen bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, garden views and access to the guest bathroom. Guest bedroom 3 has a double bed, central A/C, ceiling fan, garden view and access to the loft space. Guest bedroom 4 comes with a double bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, garden views and a desk workspace. Guest bedroom 5 is designed for children, with a lofted Twin bed and toddler-sized bunk beds (crib-size mattresses), with access to the outer balcony. The second guest bathroom comes with a soaking tub. Venture outside of the home for the cozy detached guest house with a Queen bed, window A/C, garden views, and a loveseat that converts to an additional sleeping space, as well as a private ensuite with a walk-in shower. Outside, there is also a refreshing outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach.
Mele Makana is only a short drive to the nearby grocery store, food trucks, world-class beaches, incredible snorkeling spots, and adventurous forest hikes. It is 45 minutes from downtown Honolulu as well as Honolulu International Airport. You’re also near many world-famous surfing spots, including Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, and Pipeline. If traveling with children, Shark’s Cove has wonderful tidepools so they can check out the diverse marine life. For a unique experience, head into Waimea Valley, where you’ll learn about Hawaiian culture and plants as you hike along a paved path. At the end of the hike lies Waihi Falls, a beautiful 45 foot waterfall which feeds into a freshwater pool in which you can swim.
