Students can find plenty of fun things to do around Fairfax. Tyson’s Corner I and Tyson’s Corner II offer great shopping experiences and is located right near a new metro stop. Students can also take the metro west into Reston, which has more shopping, restaurants, and plenty of exciting events. If you’re up for the ride either in traffic (doesn’t matter what time of the day, 66 will still be packed) or on the metro, going to DC is never a boring idea. There is always something new to explore from seeing all the historic buildings on Constitution Avenue to shopping in Georgetown.
Fairfax also has some yearly events like the Chocolate Lovers Festival, Fairfax Civil War Day, and the Fall Festival. Students can also catch a game or a concert at the Patriot Center located right at George Mason!
There are one four-year university and one community college located in Fairfax and there are several other colleges and universities in neighboring cities. Students can attend and find off campus housing near George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA for short).
