Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle and is located in Escambia County, Florida. The city is a seaport on the Pensacola Bay, which is protected by the barrier island of Santa Rosa and connects to the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed as “The City of Five Flags,” due to the five governments that have rules during its history, Pensacola has plenty to offer for students from exciting sporting events to ample off campus student apartments.
This college city has other nicknames, those other nicknames include “World’s Whitest Beaches” (due to the white sand in of Florida panhandle beaches), “Cradle of Naval Aviation”, “Western Gate to the Sunshine State”, and “P-Cola”. There are a number of annual festivals, events, and landmarks for students to visit and live near. Students can enjoy the Pensacola Seafood Festival and the Pensacola Crawfish Festival held in the heart of the historic Downtown. Students can also find off campus housing near the Pensacola Bay Center where they can catch a game of hockey or the Pensacola Bayfront Center where they can watch the Pensacola Blue Wahoos play some baseball.
There are three universities and colleges located in Pensacola. Students can find convenient college apartments near Pensacola State College, Pensacola Christian College, and the University of West Florida.
