Mountain View is a city in Santa Clara County, in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Located in east central California, Mountain View has plenty of exciting places in regards to entertainment, educational opportunities, and off campus student housing. Mountain View is named for its views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. From its origins as a stagecoach stop, it grew to a model suburb with a pedestrian-friendly downtown with free wi-fi.
Situated in Silicon Valley, Mountain View is home to many high technology companies. This makes it not only a great place for college students but it allows recent graduates to find careers in the degrees they earned. Mountain View has a pedestrian-friendly downtown centered on Castro Street. The downtown area consists of the seven blocks of Castro Street from the Downtown Mountain View Station transit center in the north to the intersection with El Camino Real in the south. Students can find student apartments near and visit one of Mountain View’s various restaurants, cafes, and shops extend south from the downtown station.
Mountain View is also home to a few different parks. The largest park in the city is Shoreline Park. It includes Shoreline Amphitheatre, Shoreline Golf Course, as well as Rengstorff House, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The park includes tidal ponds and mudflats, accessible via pedestrian and bicycle paths. The San Francisco Bay Trail runs along Shoreline Park.
There are five universities and colleges in Mountain View. Students can find convenient college apartments near Carnegie Mellon University, Kahn Academy, AyuVidya College of America, Western Graduate School of Psychology, and Chinese Graduate School of Theology
