Here is the updated NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center projected track for Hurricane Matthew. Impacts to Fort Bragg and the surrounding communities are expected to consist of a period of light rain and breezy conditions throughout Friday with winds near 30 mph in the afternoon and precipitation totals less than 1-inch. Bands of heavy rain are expected to move in Saturday morning that are directly associated with Hurricane Matthew with heaviest precipitation Saturday afternoon and early evening. Wind gusts of 30 to 45 mph are possible Saturday afternoon through the evening before slowly diminishing Saturday night. Precipitation will end Sunday morning as Matthew moves east and away from the United States. The combination of expected rain and wind in our already saturated ground raises the concern for localized flooding and downed trees. Be sure to put away or secure loose objects outside, avoid low lying areas and standing water.
