Hi, This is a genuine suggestion for all incoming students who have or are planning to take courts of McCallum as their apartment. This is the worst place to live in. I have lived here for an year and the management is terrible. I actually wrote them the following email to which they did not have the decency to respond also. “I am writing this email with utter disappointment to have chosen courts of McCallum as my choice of apartment. I have lived in this apartment for an year now and my list of complaints has been never ending. 1. ROACHES: I do not understand on what was this building was built? There are roaches coming out of everywhere. I put my dishes in the dishwasher in the night and come back in the morning only to find that roaches are all over the dishwasher and my dishes and I have to wash them all over again. My bathroom and my kitchen are always clean yet there are roaches roaming around freely all the time. What is worse is they have now begun to enter my fridge as well. Disgusting is the word anybody would look for but Courts of McCallum does not have the maintenance staff to get rid of them. What a shame. 2. LEAKAGE: One thunderstorm and the apartment has water everywhere. The last thunderstorm my bedroom window started letting water inside. I had to put my comforter against the window to help stop flooding the bedroom. I mean, what did you people even use to build the apartments that make water so easy to just drop in?? My bathroom roof starts leaking every time it rains. Did you like leave blank spaces in the building for water to gush through? This is not a water park!! 3. AIR CONDITIONER: This has been my biggest problem of all time. I have opened multiple work orders for a very long time. Maintenance staff sometimes tells nothing is wrong and that I just need to put the AC controller in Auto ( Seriously? You think your residents do not know that?!!!). This is midsummer and my AC does not work. Every work order I put in, says the work order is completed when my apartment is boiling with heat. I sweat when I get back from work and wake up from my sleep sometimes because I am sweating. This lead me to buy two standing fans and using them all the time. I mean is it that difficult to resolve an Air conditioner issue? We pay such huge amounts as rents and you cannot afford a professional enough to fix your residents AC? Do you know how much extra money I have spent in this last one year because of your reckless behavior towards a resident? I am a full time working employee. I leave at 6:30 in the morning and come back at 5:00 in the evening. I stay alone and hardly use any appliances or use lights all across the apartment. So for a resident like this, electricity on an average would cost 70-80$, let us assume 80$. So for the one year I stayed, it SHOULD have costed me 80*12 = 960$. But do you know, how much it actually costed me? I paid 160$ a month; which is 160*12 = 1920$. Which is a whooping 960$ extra that I paid in an attempt to keep the apartment cool, something that Courts of McCallum should have taken care of. I have electricity bills that I can provide to prove my point. I have lived in two other communities before moving here and this is the least satisfactory I have ever been. I would really want to see if you can live in my apartment at least a day when it is so boiling hot outside. Why are you so negligent? Is this because I am resident who did not extend my lease and would anyways be leaving the apartment soon and need not be taken care of? Well that is the primary reason I have not extended my lease contract. Had you been more considerate and more concerned about the needs of your residents, I would have been the first person to extend my lease. I am DISAPPOINTED. I would indeed like to move out much before my lease ending date but again you would not allow that nor would you return my rent for the lost period. So I am stuck here to rot in this apartment till 07/31/2015? I would certainly like the incoming students and the current residents to know about this careless attitude of this community. I would not like any more residents to suffer like I have for this one year. Unless there is some action taken and I am refunded for all the loss that I have gone through, I would like to post this email to all UTD Facebook pages and expose the wrath of a current resident of Courts of McCallum.” They did not still bother to apologize for the inconvenience I have and am going through. So I genuinely suggest that you do not choose Courts of McCallum. Again, this is my personal experience that I felt the need to share. #courtsofmccallum
